How does QR / barcode scanning work?

The QR feature allows your staff, pre-registered and pre-approved (2.0) visitors to check-in with a QR code or barcode, using the iPad device camera. 

The e-Reception Book automatically emails your pre-registered visitors with their own
personalised QR code. When your visitor arrives, all they need to do is show their email/QR code to the iPad camera and all their details will be pre-populated. A professional experience that makes for an impressive first impression.

Staff QR codes can help make signing in and out a simple and trackable process. Staff can
store their unique QR code on their phone, on their keyring, or on their existing staff passes. The e-Reception Book also supports existing staff ID’s with regular barcodes.

QR codes are also open to repeat visitors. You can easily assign them their own QR code for a simple and quick check-in.
     

Your account manager will need to add this feature to your account, if they haven't already.

Check-in with a QR code (Visitor)

  1.  Tap the Check-in button or Scan button and then tap the QR/Barcode button.
      
  2.  Simply present your QR code/barcode to the iPad device camera.
           

Check-in with a QR code (Staff)

  1.  Tap the Staff Check-in button and then tap the QR/Barcode button (both top right-hand corner of the screen). 2.0: Simply tap the scan button.

Generating a visitor QR code

  1.  Log into your e-Reception Book dashboard.
      
  2.  Under the ‘Categories’ tab, click the ‘Pre-Register’ sub tab.
      
  3.  Click the ‘Add a Visitor’ button.
      
  4.  Input the necessary visitor details.
      
  5.  For repeat visitors, it may be worth selecting a future date, in the ‘Visiting Until’
    input box. Leave blank if they’re only visiting for one day.
      
  6.  You must input a Visitor Email address and select ‘Yes’ for ‘Enable QR/Barcode
    Scanning’.
      
  7.  The visitor will now be sent an automated email with their QR code, that they can
    scan upon arrival.

Generating a staff QR code

  1.  Log into your e-Reception Book dashboard.
      
  2.  Click the ‘Staff Checkin’ tab.
      
  3.  Click the ‘Edit’ button for the individual staff member.
      
  4.  Select ‘Yes’ ‘Enable QR/Barcode Scanning?’.
      
  5.  Enter Barcode Number, or leave blank to have one generated.
      
  6.  Go back to the main ‘Staff Checkin’ page via the ‘Staff Checkin’ tab.
      
  7.  You can now download the QR code via the ’Download QR’ button.
      
  8.  This code can be printed, sent via email, saved to your phone etc.
